Welcome to HealthDat.org.

This website was developed to provide health professionals, community service providers, and academics with local data, tools and strategies to research, design, and implement best practice programs in San Diego County to improve population health and reduce health disparities.

Research has shown that community-engaged scholarship (academic/community partnerships) significantly improve a community's ability to address health disparities. The purpose of this site is to provide a place to encourage those partnerships and thus enhancing the science of population health.

Our long-term goal is to provide training and technical assistance in how best to utilize this site for both community agencies and academics. This training could be provided in person or through online tutorials. HealthDAT offers geographic, graphic and list visualization of indicators in many different content areas including demographics, health diseases and conditions, behaviors, and social determinants of health. It also provides information about best practices and local resources including academics pursuing research in specific content areas. We ultimately hope that San Diego health and social service agencies will be able to request on-site training in how to use these resources, and how to view the data in a way that is most helpful to their patients/clients. We also would like to provide technical assistance to individuals seeking information to improve population health.

Other visions include the facilitation of "data user groups" who are interested in specific diseases and their indicators, a newsletter describing the latest updated data and evidence-based practices, and the facilitation of advocacy for additional indicators and best practices to be placed on this site.

Current funding does not allow us to provide these training and technical assistance activities at this time, but we are constantly seeking partners to help develop the value of this site.

To inquire about adding data to this site, best practice programs, or other information not currently available, or if you have questions or would like to provide suggestions for improving the website, please send an email to info@HealthDAT.org.

Please check back frequently for new data and evidence-based programs that will be constantly adding to the website, as well as online tutorials that will help you find this information to improve the population health in your neighborhood.
